You have two for a reason

God truly has a plan for how He created each of us.  Every head has 7 openings; 2 eyes, 2 nostrils, 2 ears and a mouth. This combination led me to question why God did what he did and here are some thoughts on how the head is built.

First the number 7 is a number that represents perfection in the bible so I would surmise that each opening indeed is necessaryThe nose is not only used to smell but also influences taste.  Many scientists state almost 80% of taste is connected to smell.  For a good test, place a blindfold over one’s eyes and plug his or her nose and feed the person a peeled onion or apple and they will be unable to distinguish the two!

The eyes are placed on the front of the head, I believe, because God intends for us to always look forward (our feet are designed in the same way to not walk backwards!).  The ears are on the side of the head to allow us to hear what is on our side and behind while looking forward.

Finally we are given one mouth  James 3:6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.  With the mouth we can either bless or curse ourselves or others.  It is not by accident that we only have one mouth as it has the potential to cause the most damage.

So what does all of this mean?  We were created to listen, see, and smell before we ever speak.  The more often  we first use our other senses before we use our tongue, the more we can avoid causing serious harm.
